Why We Charge Customers for Recycling.

Learn more about why we charge customers for recycling and other services with Recyclops.

Recycling to many seems like something that should be available to everyone, everywhere. At Recyclops we feel the same way when it comes to giving everyone access to recycling that works best for them and their lifestyle.

Depending on where you are located your recycling needs may vary. Some municipal/state governments include recycling with the existing weekly waste collection but unfortunately, that’s not a reality for all. That’s why we at Recyclops are so motivated to bring recycling to all, no matter your location.

But since some cities around the country have their recycling picked up with their waste, it’s easy to be confused on why Recyclops is even needed in the first place, and why we are charging customers for our service. This blog post will help you best understand the value of our service and why you need Recyclops in your city and that starts with understanding what we do.

What We Do.

Our mission at Recyclops is to provide access to affordable recycling to all, regardless of where people live, starting with Recycling. We strive to allow everyone the ability to live their ideal sustainable lifestyle in whatever form that takes.

We use technology to drive innovative solutions for sustainability, creating jobs in all the communities in which we operate. Today, Recyclops operates in over 15 states with even more to come in the rest of 2021. In each of the communities we serve, we bring in our core values of:

  • Transparency
  • Customer happiness
  • Community
  • Environment first
  • Long term wellbeing

These are all values that Recyclops takes into account every single day. We want to bring out the best in our communities for those who recycle and live in them. Customers can choose to recycle several materials depending on their location. To see what you can and cannot recycle in your area, find your location here.

Additionally, depending on your location, you can recycle glass or even recycle on-demand for those surprise pile-ups of recycling.

What if You Already Have Basic Recycling?
As talked about above, some cities around the country do have basic recycling included with their weekly/biweekly waste disposal. Unfortunately, in many cases, the systems in place to recycle materials in our communities can actually be more harmful than good. The percentage of recycling that actually ends up in the landfill from municipal programs is surprising and frankly staggering.

According to the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Americans created up to 270 million tonnes of waste in 2017, a figure which is still growing annually. Out of the 270 million only 94.2 million tonnes of waste was properly recycled, which is only approximately 35% of total waste. On top of this only, 8% of plastic waste was recycled in 2017 which means that 92% of plastic waste escaped the recycling process and ended up in a landfill or worse.

This is why Recyclops is needed so heavily today. We ensure that all recycling that is recycled or collected by our team is dealt with properly and in an environmentally friendly way.

Why We Charge Customers.
In short, Recyclops charges customers for a number of reasons. Recyclops exists to help our customers achieve their recycling goals in areas where the city does not provide recycling pickup services.
In order to complete this service and function effectively as a company, we need customers to pay a reasonable price for this service. The costs go towards paying our drivers and internal team for the work they do internally as well as retrieving the recycling and transporting it to a recycling facility. In most cases, Recyclops has to pay, by the ton, for the material recycling facilities to take our customer’s recyclable materials ensuring that the recycling is dealt with correctly and in an environmentally friendly manner.
